About us

The Association of Anaesthesia Associates is the representative body of the Anaesthesia Associate role in the UK. The aims of the Association are to ensure the highest standards of patient care through the education and registration of Anaesthesia Associates and to promote the interests of the profession nationally.

The roles of the Association are varied. It represents the interests of the profession on the Anaesthesia Related Professionals Committee at the Royal College of Anaesthetists and other national forums, it is involved in the setting of standards and it advises on education and Continued Professional Development.

The Association represents the profession in the ongoing work to achieve statutory regulation which is led by Health Education England.  The Association will continue to play a key role in discussions with the Department of Health and Social Care & the General Medical Council as we move towards creating a statutory register of Anaesthesia Associates.

The Association is run by an elected board of Anaesthesia Associates who elect a President, Treasurer and Secretary from their number. Particular areas of work are undertaken by sub-committees.
